What I help with

Specialized care for anxiety, and the problems that travel with it

Anxiety rarely shows up alone. My practice focuses on the cluster of concerns below — if what you’re dealing with isn’t listed, the free consultation is a good place to ask.

Generalized anxiety

Persistent worry, racing thoughts, and the mental “what-if” spiral that makes it hard to relax — even when things are fine.

OCD

Intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors, treated with exposure and response prevention (ERP), the gold-standard approach.

Panic attacks

Sudden waves of intense fear, chest tightness, dizziness — and the fear of the next one. Learn to ride them out and prevent them.

Social anxiety

Dreading conversations, presentations, or being “seen.” Build the confidence to show up in the rooms that matter to you.

Phobias & fears

Specific fears that shrink your world — flying, driving, medical settings, and more — addressed step by step.

Depression

Low mood, numbness, and loss of motivation that often accompany anxiety. Rebuild momentum and meaning.

Relationship stress

How anxiety shows up between people: reassurance-seeking, conflict avoidance, and difficulty trusting connection.

Life transitions

Big changes — school, career, parenthood, moves — that stir up anxiety about identity and the unknown.

My approach

Practical therapy, grounded in what actually works

This isn’t open-ended venting. We’ll identify the patterns keeping your anxiety in place and work through them with structured, evidence-based methods — at a pace that respects where you are.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

We examine the links between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors — then test and reshape the patterns that keep anxiety running. Concrete tools you’ll use between sessions, not just in them.

ERP

Exposure & Response Prevention

The most effective treatment for OCD and phobias. Together we gradually face feared situations while resisting compulsions, so your brain learns the fear was a false alarm.

ACT

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Instead of fighting anxious thoughts, you learn to notice them without obeying them — and to act on your values anyway. Especially powerful for chronic worry and perfectionism.

Who I work with

Teens and adults, each met where they are

Ages 13–17

Teens

School pressure, social anxiety, panic, OCD, and the big feelings of adolescence. Teens get a space that’s theirs — with parents looped in appropriately on goals and progress, and clear boundaries around confidentiality so trust can build.

Ages 18+

Adults

High-functioning anxiety, OCD, panic, and the exhaustion of holding it together. Therapy that fits a real life: focused sessions, practical skills, and appointments that don’t require rearranging your day.

How sessions work

Therapy from wherever you feel most at ease

Sessions are currently held over secure video. It’s a research-supported format for anxiety and OCD treatment, and many clients find it easier to open up from their own space.

Request a consult

Use the booking link or send a message. We’ll find 15 minutes to talk through what’s going on and whether we’re a good fit — no paperwork, no commitment.

Meet for your session

You’ll get a private video link before each session. All you need is a quiet, private spot, a phone or computer, and a decent connection.

Do the work, see change

Weekly 50-minute sessions to start, with practical skills to practice between them. We’ll track what’s shifting and adjust as you go.

Serving Washington & California

I’m based in Issaquah, Washington, and licensed to practice throughout Washington and California. Wherever you are in those states — Seattle or San Diego, Spokane or Sacramento — we can meet.

Fees & insurance

Straightforward pricing, no surprises

Session fees

$175–$200 per session

Sessions are 50 minutes. Your free 15-minute consultation is exactly that — free, with no obligation to continue. We’ll talk through fees, insurance, and what to expect before you commit to anything.

Check your coverage

In-network

Insurance I accept

  • Aetna
  • Anthem
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Kaiser
  • Lyra
  • Premera Blue Cross
  • Regence
  • UnitedHealthcare

Plans and benefits vary — I’m happy to verify your coverage before your first session so you know exactly what to expect.

Out-of-network? You still have options.

Self-pay: Many clients choose to pay out of pocket for privacy, simplicity, or because their plan is out-of-network. You’ll always know the cost up front.

Superbills: If your insurance includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the diagnosis and procedure codes your insurer needs. You submit it to your plan, and they reimburse you directly according to your benefits. Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about “out-of-network outpatient mental health reimbursement” to see what you’d get back.

About your therapist

Hi, I’m Victoria.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (M.S., LMFT) based in Issaquah, Washington. My practice centers on helping teens and adults break free from anxiety — along with the depression, stress, and relationship challenges that often come with it — using approaches that are proven to work.

Anxiety is treatable — genuinely, reliably treatable — and yet so many people spend years managing it alone. I started Balanced Care Counseling to offer something different from generic talk therapy: focused, skills-based treatment grounded in CBT, ERP, and ACT, tailored to the way anxiety actually shows up in your life.

My style is warm but direct. We’ll build a real understanding of your anxiety, and then we’ll do something about it — together, at a pace that feels challenging but doable.

Questions, answered

What new clients usually ask

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Not just yet — all sessions are currently held over secure video, which lets me serve clients across all of Washington and California. In-person sessions are coming this fall — if you’d prefer to meet face-to-face, mention it in your consultation request and I’ll keep you posted. Research shows video is just as effective as in-person care for anxiety and OCD. Many clients prefer it: no commute, no waiting room, and you’re in the space where you feel safest.

What happens in the free 15-minute consultation?

We talk about what’s bringing you in, I’ll share how I’d approach it, and you can ask anything — about my style, logistics, fees, or insurance. There’s no paperwork and no pressure. By the end, we’ll both know whether working together makes sense.

What are sessions actually like?

Sessions are 50 minutes, currently held over video. Early on, we map out how your anxiety operates — the triggers, thoughts, and avoidance patterns keeping it going. From there, each session blends conversation with concrete skills practice: exposures, behavioral experiments, cognitive work, and mindfulness tools, depending on what fits. You’ll usually leave with something specific to try before we meet again.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on what we’re treating and its severity. Many clients notice meaningful change within 8–16 sessions; OCD and entrenched patterns can take longer. We’ll set clear goals up front and check progress regularly — the aim is to get you to a place where you don’t need me, not to keep you in therapy indefinitely.

Do you take my insurance?

I’m in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Kaiser, Lyra, Premera Blue Cross, Regence, and UnitedHealthcare. Benefits vary by plan, so I’m happy to verify your coverage before your first session. If I’m out-of-network for your plan, self-pay and superbills (for out-of-network reimbursement) are options — see the Fees section above.

Do you work with teens? How involved are parents?

Yes — I work with teens ages 13–17. Teens need a space that feels like their own, so sessions are confidential with age-appropriate boundaries: I’ll loop parents in on treatment goals, progress, and anything safety-related, while keeping the day-to-day details of what your teen shares private. We’ll agree on exactly how that works together at the start.

Is telehealth really as effective as in-person therapy?

For anxiety disorders and OCD, yes — a large body of research finds video-based CBT and ERP produce outcomes comparable to in-person treatment. For exposure work in particular, telehealth has a real advantage: we can practice in your actual environment, where your anxiety lives.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Life happens. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule; late cancellations and no-shows are billed at the full session fee. We’ll go over the details before your first appointment.

What if I’m in crisis?

My practice isn’t set up for crisis care. If you’re having thoughts of harming yourself or are in emotional crisis, please call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency department. If we’re already working together and something urgent comes up between sessions, reach out and I’ll respond as soon as I’m able.
